Abilene Crime Stoppers Inc. Mission Statement

Founded in March 1981, Abilene Crime Stoppers, Inc.'s mission is to carry out a community offensive against crime through law enforcement, the media, and citizen involvement. It encourages all citizens to report anonymous information about criminal activities and offers rewards for information that helps Law Enforcement solve unsolved crimes and arrest wanted fugitives.

Through an agreement with the Abilene Police Department and the Crime Stoppers by-laws, the program has an office at the Abilene Police Department where it works with them in a symbiotic relationship to help decrease crime in our city and county.

Why are some reluctant to get involved in reporting or solving a crime?

  1. Fear of reprisal
  2. Reluctance to get involved
  3. Apathy

Crime Stoppers addresses these issues by providing anonymity and a reward for individuals who provide tips.

You can provide tips by three methods:

  • By phone -  (325) 676-TIPS (8477) or 1-800-868-8477
  • Internet - abilenecrimestoppers.org
  • P3 app on  your smartphone via your provider's store

For active crimes in progress, you will need to call 911.

Tipsters will remain anonymous and are eligible to receive a cash reward up to $1000.00 if the information given leads to an arrest and charges filed on the person or persons responsible for any unsolved felony crime. Rewards will not be paid when the information is already known to the investigating agency or investigator.

The Crime Stopper program is administered by a voluntary civilian Board of Directors, its Executive Director, and a police coordinator. Its operating revenues depend on public contributions.
